ROLE:  Sr. Accountant

This position will play a major role in the set up and function of the accounting function of the U.S. piece of a global, public company including, performing the accounting transactions, payroll, accounts payable and banking activities for the U.S. entity and the daily equity transactions for entire company.  The position reports directly to the Global Controller and will be involved in the global consolidation process and the  preparation of consolidated financial statements for inclusion in SEC reports.  This role will also manage the monthly and quarterly close process for the U.S. entity, liaison with external auditors and will also play a role in the SOX and SEC reporting activities, as well as, equity for the entire company.  This is an opportunity to help buildout the U.S accounting function as this well-funded, newly public company continues to grow..


  • Assist with the global consolidation and the preparation of entity level and consolidated financial statements
  • Record and reconcile accounting transactions for the U.S. parent entity and coordinate with colleagues in Belgium on intercompany activity
  • Manage U.S. accounts payable activities and assist in banking.
  • Manage payroll for the U.S. entity, including the implementation of a new payroll system
  • Manage daily equity transactions in E-trade for the entire company and assist in equity reporting in Equity Edge online system
  • Assist in the performance and the documentation of SOX controls
  • Assist in the preparation of SEC filings in the Active Disclosure System
  • Assist in the implementation of a new ERP system


  • Accounting degree , CPA is preferred
  • 2/3 years of relevant experience in public accounting
  • Experience working in a Big 4 or National Company 
  • SEC and equity experience is a plus
  • Experience in the Biotech industry is a plus
  • Experience with NetSuite or E-trade/Equity Edge is preferred
  • Strong communication, collaborative and organizational skills
  • The ability to work closely with others in different time zones 
  • Preference will be given to candidates who can speak and read French
